Thanks, saw that one.

Try devresource.hp.com for futher IA64 HP-UX info.

I found they do have a "Dynamic Translator" for current binaries and claim "source code" compatibilty, so a recompile will be needed for speed and sometimes to get stuff to run, things they say are "not well behaved".

Point is HP looks in far better shape than Sun Solaris on Merced as Sun will not be selling a full package (no hardware). Business customers demand the package, Sun had better build a box, or drop the pretense of supporting Merced.

Personally, I much prefer Solaris over HP-UX - but without hardware support from the OS vendor.....I think Sun's past "success" with Solaris on x86 speaks for itself.
