Mark, The so called lines between the "virtual" world

and reality blur daily; a fact to which we can both attest!

BTW, awesome post. Thank you for the thought, time and effort. It's obvious that you enjoy what you do, and enthusiasm is most contagious.

This whole dynamic here, with D.W., GE, the former CMG and the management at MSGI seems to be very well put together... a fascinating study to say the least. I'll never forget the Charlie Rose show with D.W.; there was a lot of fire there to say the least. It hooked me on CMGI... and then MSGI.

The insight you bring to so many here is invaluable, and personally I thank my lucky stars each day that I am afforded so many opportunities to participate in this free market society.

On an aside, I just read a great little book by S. Ambrose..."Comrades" in which he mentions a life changing decision he made as a young man to be a historian and author... He decides to add to the sum of the worlds knowledge rather than elaborate on the existing. Interesting...and I thought inspiring.

Let's see what the market has in store for us. I'm excited, but certainly willing to accept without judgement the hands we get dealt here. After all the market is always right, and all we can do is play our hands as best we can. I don't know if we are in the winners circle here yet...but we sure ain't no losers!

All My Very Best Wishes, and hopes to see you soon...

John

Mark -- thanks for the excellent work on the analysis and review. I wonder how much of the institutional holdings came by way of compensation for underwriting and other services rendered?

Mark - Interesting assessment and one with which I agree. What we've seen over the last 10 days or so was manipulation at its finest. The focus now will be, in large part, Grizzard and the mission will now undoubtedly be to move MSGI above $22 - or so I would think. Perhaps now we'll see the analysts we've heard were "circling the wagon" come on in to make themselves known. The next 4 - 6 weeks for MSGI may be very interesting.

Mark,
Thanks for your virtual dream :)
Maybe this breakout from Prudentials and CMGIs Public Company Valuations released on August 25,1999 will help. This is from Figure 2 of a 5 page spread. It is in pdf Adobe so I have no idea how to post it.

MSGI Approx. Basis $5.375 price Aug 26 13.88.Year ago price $4.00.
1999 target MSGI $24.28
2000 target MSGI $33.99
2001 target MSGI $47.59
CMGI owns 2.31 million shares of MSGI=18.28% of MSGI
current value 32.204 million
Discount percentage 10%
est growth 40%
expected valuation 1999 $50.72 million
2000 $71.01 million
2001 $99.41 million
So, Paul Merenbloom of PRU used this with CMGI to come up with his strong buy rating on CMGI on AUG.25th

Mark, CMGI valuations are pretty hard to figure but that is the latest from one of the big guys :)

What's your take on this?

thanks,
