I've thought all along (and doubtless said so all too often) that I think the normal and proper course of a counterintelligence operation has been sacrificed to the higher goal of finding a new scandal to fling at Clinton, and that long-term policy goals regarding China are in danger of being sacrificed to the higher purpose of creating an enemy to accuse him of coddling. I'm no great Clinton fan, but he's going out soon anyway, and not by impeachment; the notion of mangling our own long-term objectives for short-term political gain does not seem very bright.
