Debatable, according to some of what I've read. I don't think either of us are old enough to know from experience. I'll be interested to see what some of the others think about that one.

Do you think that phasing out the SEC will return Wall Street to being a better place? Interesting to take a poll across SI on that one.

the banking crisis and crash of '29 was caused by the federal government, which then used that as an excuse to create massive regulation.

And I suppose it was all a great conspiracy aimed at creating a justification to regulate?

I've heard a number of theories on that one; I suspect that the truth is a good deal more complicated than any of them.
