Ahhhh, babies are in bed, house is quiet.... Now what is all this ruckis on the DAR thread?

Here is a related question. Can people change? Can they grow into different people than they were in their youth?

My experience tells me they certainly can. I can't tell you how many times I've seen dramatic changes in young people after a few years of cultural indocrination. Codes of conduct, ways of behaving, acting, reacting and interacting can be dramatically altered if given the right environment. You can't motivate someone to change, but you can create an environment around which intrinsic motivation to change is possible. Believe me, I've seen some of the nastiest street fighters from L.A. turn into model young men in only a few short years. Often times, when they finally turn that corner and see the light, (the light of reality that they have been living in a deterministic paradigm) they become the most conservative people you would ever want to meet. I crack up when I meet them again, say ten years down the road, and hear them talk about "family values" with an almost religious fervor.

People can change and grow, the idea that your personality and everything you will be is set by the time you are 5 has never rung true for me. People are constantly growing and changing. Searching for the 4 things we all seek as humans. To live, to love, to learn and to leave a legacy.
