In many things the far right and the far left have killed our basic freedoms.

This War on Drugs has been one of the most destructive of forces to our freedoms.

"...whenever any form of government becomes destructive to these ends [to secure life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness], it is the right of the people to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new government...".

In one of the most amazing and haunting coincidences in American history, Jefferson and Adams both died on the same day -- July 4, 1826, 50 years to the day after the Declaration of Independence. Adams' final words were "Thomas Jefferson still survives."

Neither party has a franchise on either guaranteeing rights or eroding them. Our rights were established by revolution and the Constitution, and they have been and will continue to be eroded simply by time and the actions of power-hungry people of all political persuasions.
