Paul, this might result in some new orders for Intel Xeons (from the Compaq thread):

Online News, 08/26/99 02:27 PM)

Users of NT on Alpha to be
offered trade-in, migration
options
By Jaikumar Vijayan

Users affected by Compaq Computer Corp.'s decision
to drop Windows NT on its Alpha servers will be offered
trade-in programs and migration services to Windows
NT or Windows 2000 on ProLiant servers, according to
the contents of an internal document being prepared by
Compaq for circulation to customers.

What processors do Proliants use? From a Compaq Corp. web site:

Compaq Offers Customers the Latest
Pentium III Xeon Processors in Its
ProLiant Server Family

Paul, Has Intel looked this good as an investment in this year? I don't recall such a time. Intel stock is so strong right now that even general market selloffs are not having effects on buyers of the stock----and IMHO won't have significant effects. I see a pretty fast road to 100.

This is not due to some idea that its PE is low compared to others in the PC sector. Instead, it is just the realization that this company is a gorilla and the past selloffs in the stock were based upon fears that were unfounded (especially the AMD fear). Investors and particularly some analysts had expected it to become a dinasaur. Those sell side analysts now realize what is really happening and are changing their tune.

I can't think of a single growth company in the tech sector that is as safe a holding as Intel----and having great growth potential. I am looking out about 6 months and expect to make a bundle on this one.
