Well yeah, it was just speculation on a BBC forum. However I think the notion that the internet swayed AG from his prior "irrational exuberance" concern is credible.

Actually on this internet vs. electricity or phone thing, I think the argument is that with the industrial revolution, information was tangential to the core shift. So phones played a role but were not the hub of the industrial age (maybe electricity was?), whereas in the information age the delivery of information is key to its continuing development.

Anyway who cares about that stuff - this is what happens when you listen to NPR, kooky theories and too much info!
