Thankyou for your very informed reply to my bear market hedge question and for the heads up on the tax consequences.
It seems some money in the SPY's or short funds might be a good idea for some investors who want to take advantage of a bear downturn call other than just everything in a money market.
And you gave some very useful info about the different availabilities including the Rydex Funds which I didn't know much about. Of course these have risks to as does everything possibly short of money markets and treasurys, etc. that investors should be aware of. I guess its a good rule that the more possibility of a higher percentage gain, the more possibility of higher risk in any venture.
