Circuit City pulled the plug on DIVX and investors in Circuit City cheered by immediately bidding up the stock a month or two (or three) ago. DIVX was draining Circuit City in a big way, and they got out before they dug themselves any deeper. If I recall correctly, I believe it was gonna cost them $1.76 a share to get out completely. I may be wrong on the number, but whatever it was it worked out to a lot.

I never took a close look at DIVX and all it's pros and cons but at first glance it seemed like a promising proposition. I mean being able to rent your movie once and NOT have to go back to the store after viewing it seemed pretty cool to me.
