Ahh, you're right, I misunderstood you.

As for vilifying the entire Federal gov't for the acts of a few bad or stupid men, that's just why I'm vilifying them now. I can come up with all sorts of reasons to vilify them.

My basic view is that gov'ts in general will, throughout their existence, continue to become more and more oppressive, and will use whatever means are at their disposal to achieve their single goal of the accumulation of power.

Personally I think that much of the point of both Waco and Ruby Ridge were as tests, to see if they could kill people for vague and unsubstantiated reasons and get away with it, since the ability to kill people at will is necessary for a real tyranny. They were "testing the waters" so to speak -- trying to establish a precedent. They did this by targeting some fringe dwellers who could be counted on to not surrender, then altering the rules of engagement and putting enough "really bad guys" in place to create an untenable situation. If they had gotten away with it, then they would have gained some more power and we would have lost some more freedom. Since they didn't, they've now gone into the "appear to show contrition and assign blame while not fundamentally changing anything" mode that I spoke of earlier.

Those that lust after power are the enemies of all people who wish to be free in their selves. They need to be vilified whenever possible. That's all.
