Great post Howard,
I spent some time doing yahoo auction stuff for the kids so I thought I'd share my observations.

The pokemon trading cards are establishing fair market values not unlike baseball cards. Price is partly due to rarity but popularity is also a significant factor. The most sought after cards are now bringing serious premiums. One card (charizard holographic) is selling for $40 or more in mint condition. Demand for the cards is huge in the Dallas area. Believe me I know since I drove all over town looking for booster packs Saturday.

As a parent, even though pokemon may not be perfect, it is sure alot better than most other things the kids are into. It is teaching my kids some real life lessons about supply and demand. They are also really starting to memorize the fighting moves, hit points, etc. They are learning math and strategy skills but don't realize it is happening.

Christmas is not too far away and I think we will get a nice early Christmas present from KIDE. November-December will be huge for KIDE but we can't ignore October. Anyone care to make a wager that Pokemon characters won't be the biggest sellers at halloween?
