Kapkan Re <<How about K6-2/500MHz and Athlon/700MHz announcement tomorrow.>>

Yes I meant the K6-2 500. No Idea when the K6-III 500 and K7 700 will be announced.

If the article from Cnet is correct and HP is adopting the K6-2 500 as well as IBM, I find that significant.

This is a first time in a long time that HP has had a product based on AMD's high MHz chip. After the latest manufacturing problems, HP completely left AMD and this is the first time they are thinking about coming back. HP's all out endorsement of the Celeron in their retail market has had a lot to do with K6 losing market share to Celeron.

IBM seems to be replacing Compaq as our best supporter. Their all out adoption of the K7 coupled with tomorrows annoucement for their adoption of K6-2 validates this.

Kap,

I think the ball is in Intel's court, and AMD will wait for Intel to officially announce Coppermine 667 or 700 before announcing Athlon 700 and hints of Athlon 750 before year end. Just my guess.
