FINAL DRAFT. TO ALL, Mr. Greenspan is only the messenger delivering the message from our betters, those who control most of the financial assets of the United States. Those who invest but, of course, never speculate. They think their invesment club is becoming a vulgar casino and they do not approve.
I read the messsage loud and clear.
I will sell one half my holdings at the open tomorrow.
I will not re-enter this market on margin until at least after Oct. 5, 1999.
The only thing worse than no regulation of the stock market is regulation.
The game is rigged. The Establisment, what we vulgarians would call the House, is going to win big in the Casino this fall and why not, they have the edge, thanks to Mr. Greenspan, He works for them, you know. Every time we place our bets, he comes around and says, "inexplicable." He is their official heckler. His job is to unnerve us. He does it well.
October approaches, end of the fiscal year. Prime time to enrich the yacht club trophy fund.
We are rattled; they are old shoe; loosey-goosey.
What if I went into one of their clubs and heard them discussing a merger and acqusition and I said "inexplicable" what would they say?
Call security, they would say. There is a most rude fellow here...
jhg
GOOD LUCK.

>>Mr. Greenspan is only the messenger I agree. And he is delivering the message from
whom? for want of a better word, those who control most of the financial assets of
the United States. He represents the Board of Governors. He represents our betters.
Those who invest but, of course, never speculate.
They think their invesment club is becoming a vulgar casino and they do not

Good Morning JHG,

Great Post. There is a Sunday morning radio show that is broadcasted on WPHT talk radio. Fred Sherman sings a couple of his arias about the market but fails to impress me as a wantabe Luciano Pavarroti. He is very free to voice his feelings about Allen Greenspan and he said yesterday that he has very deep feelings about economist like 6 feet under. He also said that Allen greenspan is out of touch with reality and that he should keep his butt out of the stock market since his words are only hindering the normal progression of the market. He is sitting on a pile of treasuries and his wealth is going lower.

It is my feeling that the only way to win in this game is just to stay focused on the leaders in any industry and let the wind bags blow all the hot air and smoke they want. In the end and over the long term the markets will prevail and our wealth will grow beyond anything we can imagine. Lets keep our Dell, Microsoft, Cisco and the rest of them you know what I mean. It is not being able to time the market but the length of time in the market that counts. If greenspan got fired some other heckler would enter the barn and we would be going thought the same thing all over again. There is always going to be something or some comment by anyone in the spot light who will succeed in pissing us off and try to shake our confidence and instill fear. Radical maneuvers is all in a game and I get caught in its throws from time to time. Lets just live a full life and have lots of fun and enjoy good health. The market will take care of us all over time.

Best Wishes to All,
Frank
