rudedog - well, you may not be too surprised by my answer but I say its good for Sun.

Sun has a binary compatible OS that runs on a single CPU desktop to a cluster of 256 64-bit CPU's today. As the internet drives a move toward application service providers and large server farms - ISP's get massive scalability on Sun today rather than managing a large number of NT silo's that increase in complexity as applications scale - of course that assumes competitive products are available from Microsoft and Intel which there not.

as far as Alpha refocusing on Linux and Tru64? - no doubt Alpha is great technology and I appreciate Compaq showing some backbone against Microsoft - but I think the game is over in Unix - Solaris and Linux are the survivors plus i hear most of the original Alpha Development team is already hard at work - At Sun.
