I've always basically approved of the decision to use the bomb on the Japanese. But I do wonder if anyone considered the possibility of dropping the first one on a relatively uninhabited area, and following up with a message along the lines of "Tokyo in 48 hrs.". Might have had the same result with somewhat less cost.
