BB, What happens when Fidelity starts offering E-Bill, and E-Payments? Many people have their money in MM's in mutual funds, wouldn't that be something? I would say the glass is 1/4 full at this point. The other 3/4's will be filled in no time. Regards, Rob

Benny: Thanks for the pointer. My contention is that once an institution of BofA's size and stature provides DDA data to a portal, the game is over. Others will be forced to follow, and banks will have lost their final raison d'etre. They've lost much of the asset side to commercial paper, mortgage bankers, card issuers and securitizers. The liability (deposit) side has gone to money funds, brokers and now portals. To anybody under 35 years old, a bank is no more than a disk drive with a phone line attached. As zuma said so eloquently above, let AMEX set up a network of safe deposit boxes and ATM's and you can finally put Citi to sleep.
