''Trends'' - first XTO, now BELW.... Q3 releases are the coiled spring BABY !

biz.yahoo.com

<< Bellwether announces drilling success....''Current management is dedicated to exceeding previously forecasted cash flow and production estimates for the remainder of this year and for calendar year 2000,'' said J.P. Bryan, chairman and CEO of Bellwether. ''With gas prices at current levels, Bellwether is making a concerted effort to exploit all potentially significant gas opportunities.'' >>

hmmmm; didn't RRC's CEO pound the table that Q3 would be the turnaround ?

These E&P CEO's getting awfully cocky here folks ! - sensing a trend anyone (VBG) ? ..... buy it.

A couple of analysts have been pounding the table - based upon what the E&P's, Integrateds and Oil Majors are going to do upon Q3 earnings releases as analyst estimates & models are using $17.45 crude & $2.20 - $2.40 mcf Nat Gas in the models. The upside is going to be strong; but the major story is per XTO's Bob Simpson comments today - that the sector will also begin to finally trade in a more historic valuation multiple norm. ie: 6-8 x cfps.

.... another $liderism - ''no-brainer'' :

Buy the sector laggards & value plays at the bottom of the historic valuation cycles. ie: RRC trading at 1.67 x 2000 cfps. At merely historic sector norms of 6-8 x cfps / per XTO's CEO call - RRC trades at 6-8 x $3.00 = $18-$24 per share in year 2000.

RRC @ $18+ ? Now that sounds ludicrous to some of you - doesn't it ? Be honest...

NOT ! ..... let's '' turn the page'' ( as Bob Seger likes to say... that's for you Doug) . People; You want to know why I am so ''excited'' ? Ask yourselves where was Nat Gas trading at the last time these small cap Nat Gas pure plays received valuations like this below:
==================================================
***A.G. Edwards issued a Company Report on October 14, 1997 for Range Resources.

On October 14, 1997 A.G. Edwards analyst N T Ident issued a 4 page Company Report on Range Resources. Report highlights: 'The BUY rating was reiterated based on the low relative valuation of the shares, a 20%+ growth prospect, and the potential for an upside earnings and cash flow surprise. If the balance of the exploration program is successful, 1997 cash flow and earnings estimates will be revised upward. The price objective was set at $28 per share.'

Report No.: N0071891
=====================================================

FYI - RRC going forward for year 2000 will have higher earnings, higher cash flow and Nat Gas ''probably'' will be selling at higher levels than when RRC received this price target and was trading at $15-$20 per share for nearly a year.

... and Rory; you wonder why I AM SO DAMN EXCITED !!!! ???

.... because it don't take no Nostradamus to be seeing what I am seeing here !

Nat Gas - Boom 2000 - onward = doubles, triples and quadruples..... + leverage for the strongly positioned laggards who are repairing balance sheets AND who have upside production capacity.

Does RRC have production upside ? per their last quarterly:

<<During the periods presented, oil and gas production volumes increased 35% to 18.0 Bcfe, an average of 197,650 Mcfe per day>>

Does RRC have revenue - cfps upside ?

<< During the first six months of 1999, the Company received an average of $12.94 per barrel of oil and $1.94 per Mcf of gas.>

...where are Nat Gas & Crude prices presently ? - a bit more than $1.94 and $12.94 perhaps (VBG) ?

THAT"s why....''I'm so excited'' .... (PS name that tune)...
