So here's a real WAG at the starting prices for the new Optiplex GX200 and GX300 systems:

As I mentioned last night, my guess is that they'll replace the GX1 and GX1p families, so I'd suggest taking the GX1 and GX1p current prices as a very rough start and add 10% for new processor and extra RDRAM costs.

I configured a GX1 as a minimum business system (550Mhz processor (to approximate the P-III 533), 17" screen, 6.4G, Win 98, no audio (businesses don't use them yet much), 64M) and got $2049. Bumped up 10% gives $2250-ish.

Doing the same with the GX1p gave $2567 (but with 128M and 10G HDD). Bumped up another 10% gives about $2825-ish.

Not too bad. I thought we wouldn't see RDRAM in anything under $2500 to start. $2250 would be a good starting point.
