Elmer,

2 weeks from first (Merced) silicon to samples!! Compare that to Athlon which is now little further along than sampling itself!

The execution of K7 pales by comparison to that of Merced. I expect to see 1GHz Merced systems flying off the shelves, long before the first K7 products appear at retail.

The buying public is screaming for IA64!!!!

Elmer, <Intel .. is expected to ... announce that it is ready to ship engineering samples> of MerDUD...
<2 weeks from first silicon to samples!!>

What a relief!

Is this the readiness #1 or readiness #2 ?

What an amazing speed of development! After
just a few little years we are expecting again:

pan.mdronline.com@19689221dwvbjp/mpr/merced/1017vp.html

"1997 may well be the year of first silicon for what is likely to be
the most significant new microprocessor family the world has seen in
a long time: Merced, the first implementation of the Intel/HP
architecture collaboration called IA-64."

Just thought that you'd like to be reminded...
