Whose demonizing evolution? As far as I know, some Christian activists seek the right to be able to teach both evolution and creationism. I don't agree but I don't see a move afoot to keep evolution from being taught. As for school prayer, I would use this as an argument that liberals choke off or stifle the expression of different views. The Constitution calls for a separation of church and state, not a hunting down and snuffing out of all religiously oriented ideas wherever they may be found in public. JLA

I don't know if the debate was ever resolved with respect to how, or if, evolution is treated in high school textbooks. I can now say with authority that Fairfax County, Virginia public schools teach evolution in 9th grade social studies, as I just had the textbook in my hands. The most recent find is estimated to be 4.4 million years old, found by a Japanese fellow, didn't quite get the name of the site before Ben took the book back to finish his homework. Something like Aramis.
