Unfortunately, if I took a gun to Manhattan, I'd probably be arrested and put in jail with the people I was hoping to avoid.

I am planning on staying at a big hotel near the museums, like a Marriott or a Hyatt, and going out in the day time mostly. My brother used to live in New York City, and I visited him there a few times, and I also had a boyfriend who lived in Queens, that I stayed with for a few weeks, a long time ago, so I do know a little bit about it. And I spent half my life in New Orleans, and a lot of time in Washington, D.C., so I am a little bit street smart. Not too many muggings in the parts of New York I want to visit, and if someone wants my purse, he/she is welcome to it. That's the key to surviving a mugging. If they want your purse, your wallet, your watch, whatever, just hand it over politely and humbly. Never diss a guy with a knife or a gun. I have a feeling you won't follow my advice should the time ever come.
