Sorry this is a little old, but TVEurope just put it online......................tvbeurope.com -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Lysis showcases DTV management solution Swiss-based digital TV software provider, Lysis, demonstrated an open software platform for managing cable, satellite, terrestrial and telecommunications broadcast service operations at NAB'99. At the Lysis booth best-in-class hardware and software products from Oracle, Compaq, NCI, DiviCom and Thomcast were on show integrated with the Lysis iDTV platform. The Lysis iDTV platform offers service providers a comprehensive and integrated set of business oriented tools covering the full life cycle of service management, from content acquisition and aggregation, to target delivery and usage analysis. The solution is compliant with DVB-S, DVB-C, DSS, Digicypher and Cablelabs. It is also ready to work with ATSC and is in preparation to work with other emerging standards, even for broadcast via IP. In a joint demonstration Compaq, Oracle and Lysis debuted a pre-integrated solution comprising Compaq's MediaCentral media archiving application and AlphaServer 4100 platform, Oracle's Oracle Video Server and Oracle8 database and Lysis' iDTV broadcast scheduling and management software. "Today's broadcasters who are expanding in the digital domain need to be able to focus on positive ways to differentiate themselves from the competition," said John Moroney, principal consultant, new media at Ovum, a leading IT, telecom and new media independent research consultant firm. "DTV solutions like the one presented by Compaq, Oracle and Lysis give broadcasters the ability to design and deliver new services with a minimum time-to-market. With offerings like this, the focus becomes revenue generation rather than technology integration." Also at the show, Network Computer, Inc (NCI) and Lysis announced a strategic alliance that integrates the Lysis iDTV service management software platform with NCI's client-server software platform. The combined platform will enable both companies to offer network operators a standards-based, ready-to-deploy digital television and Internet solution. On the Lysis booth, the two companies demonstrated NCI's ConnectServer including the Mediacast Server component integrated with the Lysis iDTV platform, which allows network operators to insert Internet content from multiple sources into the television broadcast. This solution will enable network operators to plan, schedule and manage all their digital and Internet based assets. Singularis, a software company with expertise in personalisation and profiling technology for the broadcast market, announced with Lysis a joint effort to create the world's first comprehensive suite of rules-based content delivery and recommendation technologies for the television industry. Its personalisation platform is designed to enable television providers to tailor TV content based on each viewer's personal preferences.DiviCom and Lysis announced a partnership to provide a network management solution based on the integration of the Lysis iDTV platform and the DiviCom THESYS family of network management solutions. On both the Lysis and DiviCom booths, the companies demonstrated the automated control of a DiviCom digital compression system.
