My Dear Haim,

Why the hell you would address your quips to me is rather baffling, however I will attempt to answer in my own feeble way. Anyone that lets the manipulation and exacerbation of such a thing as 2 to 3 tenths move on the 30yr. bond, is a fool. This is nothing more than light volume and scare tactics by the houses to get all the stock they can before the six week run to earnings. I have intentionally taken myself off of the boards for the most part because of asinine statements such as yours. I will grudgingly predict the following.

Market will move big time next Friday.

Market will be right around 12,000 on the DOW by third week of Oct.

For the record so you can see if I lose my ass or not, I hold the following.

10,000 QCOM

8,000 RNWK

I invite you to meet me at my bank around the second week of Oct.

Selah,

From the porch,

Voltaire

Dear HAIM,
As school soon approaches, I'll be sure to keep your post in mind as I work with nine year olds on cooperative learning and how to benefit from the feedback and sharing of new ideas from others. In my classroom we encourage heated discussion on all topics, but in an atmosphere of mutual respect. This forum here was established under those premises.
People in hurt don't need more.
Peace
Craig

Haim,
what are you doing over here kicking on the anthill? -g-

people who want to know about financial statements will learn them....people who want to speculate and call it investing will not care about it....

this is like politics and religion.....very unlikely to change many minds here.....

i know you didn't mean to hurt any feelings...

mike

Selected data from AOL 10-K (in millions)

Cash flow statement items

Year ended June 30
1999 1998 1997
Net increase in cash and cash equivalents $210 $486 $14
Cash and cash equivalents at beginning of year 677 191 177
---- ---- ----
Cash and cash equivalents at end of year $887 $677 $191
==== ==== ====

Balance Sheet
1999 1998
Current assets:
Cash and cash equivalents $887 $677
Short-term investments 537 146

Other assets:
Investments, including available-for-sale
securities $2,151 $531

===========================================================

Haim. Suggest you learn to read a cash flow statement.

AOL produced positive cash flows in last three years.

Note that the short term and long term investments increased
dramatically in the year ended 6/30/99.

The $1.6 billion increase in long term investments in the
"other assets" section is treated as a use of cash, and can
rightfully be added to the cash flow provided in the year ended
6/30/99.

AOL is closer to a cash-gushing machine than it is to the
cash-poor, internet bubble stock you are trying to make it
out to be.

Hype no more, sir!

Brian
