NEW YORK (CBS.MW) -- The newly named president of MTV Networks Online said the Internet music network is mulling a possible initial public offering.

Nicholas Buttersworth told CBS.MarketWatch.com the new company, which was announced Monday, is considering a number of financing opportunities, including an IPO.

"We look at this as one big startup," he said.

The new company will include VH1.com, MTV.com and SonicNet.com. See related story. It's more than just a brand extension of the cable properties -- the new company will also push into e-commerce with downloadable music, Buttersworth said.
