Le Metropole members,

I have served a Wall Street Journal article for you
at the Kiki Table entitled, "Russians Agree: U.S.
Banks Are Tops!" It appeared today and was written by
Holman W. Jenkins Jr.

"Nobody was surprised when Mr. Khodorkovsky, the
wheeler-dealer so studiously cultivated by Goldman,
emerged as a figure in the Bank of New York scandal.
He told the New York Times last week that the money
belonged to the Russian political elite, who were
trying to get their funds out of high-yielding Russian
treasury bills in the weeks just before and after
Russia devalued the ruble and declared a moratorium on
paying back its debts."

Sources tell me that the Russian elite are skimming
$20 billion out of Russia every year now. That amount
is 2 to 3 times greater than drug traffickers take
in.

This is another story about "Hannibal Lechter" and
the author suggests "Congress should look into this mess."
While Congress is at it, they might as well subpoena
their gold books too. Like I said in last night's Midas:
the gold market manipulators are no better than street
thugs.

Yesterday, it was Goldman Sachs along with fellow Hannibals
AIG and Morgan Stanley that sat on the gold offers when
gold rallied. Big surprise, eh!

Well today, the CRB broke 200 to the upside giving them
more reason to beat gold down. It has now retraced all of
yesterday's gain.

I just received a report from a Cafe member who has an
assoicate who just returned from Singapore. The gold trade
there is BOOMING and the talk of the town. Base metals
aluminum, copper, zinc and nickel are flying. Take a look
at their charts if you can. Oil is up again today. All this
and gold goes nowhere. SCANDAL! SCANDAL! SCANDAL!
