New Study Finds that Human Fathers Are "Utterly Unnecessary"

BERKELEY, CA - A new study conducted by the UC Berkeley school of Entomology examining the role that males play in the social development of insects is challenging long held traditional views regarding the necessity of fathers in human upbringing. Lorrie Cooey, lead researcher for the study, told BNN, "We found that in highly socialized insects, such as bees and ants, males play no significant role in larvae development and training. Despite the lack of a strong male figure in their lives, these insects grow to be well adjusted and productive members of their colonies." According to Cooey, "It doesn't take much of a leap to see that this proves that human children do not need a father or male figure in their lives."

Colorado based 'Focus on the Family' disputes the studies conclusions. Said one Focus spokesperson, "Comparing human children to insect larvae is absurd. This is nothing more than a continuation of liberal attacks on fatherhood."

Cooey rebutted Focus on the Family's claims saying, "They are just jealous because science doesn't support their outdated beliefs. It is time for them to face the reality that we don't need men in our society and that children would be better off if we just abolished the institution of fatherhood." Ms. Cooey's father could not be reached for this report.
