I don't think high end software and retail have enough in common to lump them into one space, is the point. Ariba is the most highly valued b2b company by far so you kindof have to include it in the definition. Ariba has a different analyst at Merrill for example than ICGE/Vert. If they were the same animal they would have the same analyst, no?

So if you say they should be separated then one set is out and one would be in.

There is no difference. But if a wall street analyst can convince you there is a difference, it opens a "category" of new worthless b2b IPOs to push out the door.
