Good morning Scott, There was actually a chapter dedicated solely to technical analysis in the portfolio management textbook. While the concepts were nice to brush up on, the type of tools they taught were ones I would hesitate to use--there was too little focus on how the fundamentals were reflected in the technical behavior of the issue. Instead, it focused on assumed linear historical relationships that helped guide one into and out of the broad market in general, and its effectiveness overall probably wouldn't have been that great. Perhaps that's why the academics were having such a good time shooting holes through it (TA) like swiss cheese--they were setting it up like a Straw Man by shooting through silly tools.
