JGoren, those arguments are good, but not the bread and butter issue. This is NOT an emergency system for broken down cars though of course like a cellphone, some minutes are used for such things. This is a bread and butter phone service for where it isn't otherwise available. If people aren't comfortable making calls pretty much when they like, it won't work.

Since handsets will be in short supply [if the system succeeds], those handsets need to be in the hands of people who will use them a lot for Globalstar to make money. If they sit there as backup for emergency, Qualcomm/Eric/Telital and the service provider will make money, but not us!

Yes, the 'emergency backup' ads would be a good attention getter. But they'd have to be careful that it didn't get stuck in that position - handsets have to be used!
