The LU/ASND version of MPLS looks to be an edge feature of their IP Navigator. The IP Navigator looks to be leveraging their existing circuit routing technology with a unique circuit mapping (MPT) from the following: ascend.com ascend.com This would seem that anything that can be delivered through their existing switched environment (e.g. Traffic engineering) can be extended to "MPLS" packets at the edges. The argument of whether this circuit approach with its scalability issues is better or worse than an out od band control protocol (LDP or RSVP) is another issue.
