<<It is quality assurance from a well known 3rd party. It is the equivalent of AAA bond rating from Moody for your products and processes to get there>>

ISO 9000 certification is for a facility and its procedures rather than an endorsement of a product. The expectation is that if you have good manufacturing procedures in place and have them well documented that consistent product quality will result. It does not comment on the design of the product (low latency, dual power supplies, etc). I wonder in Sun or any of the current OEMs required Ancor to be certified?

ISO certification is an unexciting but necessary step on the way to becoming a "respectable" company. Since the certification process is rather arduous and expensive, it can be taken as proof that Ancor intends to be around for a while, and sees itself as a major-league player. I think Greg's speculation that Sun may have required it is right on the mark.
