Robert,

I'm with you that SI is a great benefit for gaining knowledge. I miss Kam, Marty and others that created thought and provided leadership but things change and they had to move on. We have great researchers, experts and people in the know right now but the news is out and most information is quite speculative. IMHO posts will increase this Fall as news increases and new products give us more to agree and disagree on. I just hope some new people join in that can help us create thought and keep our views realistic. I would also welcome some cheer-leading if we only had more to cheer about.

Regards,
Mark M.

<<I worry that we will step on a slippery slope and the number of quality posts will keep shrinking. Even more
concerning is what I call "Gresham's law of posting" or bad posts drive out good ones. If we lose SI as a
source of information exchange as it morphs into Yahoo!, or worse, it will be a large loss to me.>>
I haven't seen a deterioration in quality like Yahoo, I think because there has been so little new blood. Its hard to believe that with all the people working in the disk drive industry, insiders are virtually non-existant. Maybe SI should waive fees for anyone who can prove they work in a technology company to reinvigorate these threads. -Z
