arthur...re: trading

not sure if this is a temporary phenomena. believe this may be a trend.
you are seeing what i see. in thirty years i have never seen such momentum and range trades. it is a bit unsettling. undermines buy and hold in the sense that if the markets are forever choppy, then hope when you have to exit it is at a top, or else a good long term gain evaporates. think even more the strategy of selling puts and calls against/with your underlying long term smooths out the violent waves.

for me plain and simple stochastic momentum indicator has been as flawless as anything i know of....success in up or down market this year bears it out...sell calls at overbought, buy back and sell puts oversold....monthly action reduces long term hold costs substantially.

things are changing...too much illogic....too much emotion...too much inexperience, especially at the fund management levels...just have to look at the turn over ratio of the portfolio......a bit sad...but can prosper with proper mindset....how are you doing otherwise...take care ed a.

p.s......moved my margin account from msdw, didn't like that i wasn't buying their products(the firm not the broker)or asset allocation...moved to wall street access/bt alex brown...good treatment...on line trade..not the cheapest, about 29.00/5000 shares...but tremendous execution...
