In fact, on some good lots, an old house is actually a liability. My brother's brother-in-law bought a house in this area I was talking about, sold the house for a dollar to a guy who moved it to a new lot so the brother-in-law could build a new bigger house.

Down in Naples they force you to tear down the house if improvements would comprise 50% or more of the house's present value.
