More information from the man on the street, this time an assistant principal at a rural high school in a poor county. His school-wide project is magazines. They grossed $28,000 2 years ago, and $17,000 last year. Several years ago, they grossed $46,000. The margin on magazines is about 40%. That's a pretty huge variation considering it's the same project. One of their incentives was taking every kid who sold 20 magazines out to eat. Most of the prizes are in the form of cash--very popular with the kids. All of the clubs in the school can do 2 fundraisers per year. He said the Board of Education must approve every fundraiser; this is state-wide policy. He agreed that "approve" meant that the Board agreed that the product being sold was appropriate for public school children to be associated with. Regards, Suzanne
