DRAM Companies, Rambus and Intel Announce Formation of RDRAM Implementers Forum PALM SPRINGS, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 31, 1999--Memory companies Hyundai Electronics Industry Co., Ltd.; Infineon Technologies; Micron Technology, Inc.; NEC Corporation; Samsung Electronics Company, Ltd.; and Toshiba Corporation joined Intel Corporation and Rambus Inc. Tuesday in announcing the formation of a Direct RDRAM Implementers Forum. "The objective of the RDRAM Implementers Forum is to create a venue for the industry to work together in reducing the costs of and successfully ramping Direct RDRAM memory technology," said Pat Gelsinger, vice president and general manager of Intel's Desktop Products Group, at a press conference promoting the industry group on the first day of the Intel Developer Forum. Representatives from each company involved in the RDRAM Implementers Forum also attended the press conference. The RDRAM Implementers Forum will initially focus on compliance workshops and RDRAM cost reduction efforts. The industry group will also be responsible for approving any proposed future changes to the RDRAM specification. Both Compaq Computer Corporation and Dell Computer Corporation support the formation of the RDRAM Implementers Forum. Membership Opportunities Aside from the companies involved in the announcement, the RDRAM Implementers Forum is open for membership to any other company involved in component or system level RDRAM implementations. An RDRAM Implementers Forum Web site will be constructed in the near future and will have membership details.
