SingTel may make provisions for U.S. firm [Singapore Telecom would be a nice pickup for G*...] Monday August 30, 10:19 pm Eastern Time SINGAPORE, Aug 31 (Reuters) - Singapore Telecommunications Ltd said on Tuesday it may have to make provisions for its US$94 million investment in a satellite operator, ICO Global Communications (Nasdaq:ICOGF - news). ICO had filed for bankruptcy protection in the United States last week. The company is struggling to build a global satellite communications network but failed recently to secure $600 million in financing commitments. ``The $94 million is the total investment we had made in ICO. We are monitoring the situation and will make provisions if and when necessary,' a SingTel spokeswoman said. She added any such provision was not expected to have a material impact on the company's financial position.
