Elmer - <That's what I say too but you should see the pooh poohing going on over on the AMD thread that this is no big deal!! Every new architecture should be up and running in 2 weeks from F.S.!!! They claim the K7 was up and running the first day, just !!!no motherboards or chipsets!!!!>

This event does validate several things:

1) Valid design / functionality
2) Valid process functionality
3) Manufacturability of a large die (process again :-))
4) At least an alpha MB
5) At least an alpha chipset
6) OS vendor support

Let the AMDer's pooh pooh all they want. It is an achievement of note, and those who know the effort it took to get this thing from T.O. to demo/samples in this time frame are to be commended for an incredible effort and a job well done. If AMD could have done the same thing with the Athlon, they would have. Give me a break. It's just good business to do concept demonstrations. Just think if they wouldn't have demo'd it what they'd be saying!!!

Of course it is no big deal.

Just look how successful AMD was with their Kmart 63 SharpyTooth !
