Our government made a telecommunication monopoly agreement for Estonian Telecom, which will be valid until 2006. The result of this agreement, our telecommunication prices are highest in world and Estonian Telecom pays yearly dividends several times more, than original investment was. For example, a phonecall to US costs over $2/minute. Personally I'm using a call-back service, but according the Estonian Telecom, those services are unlegal in Estonia. But they have no ways to control this. One recent sample was, when one small Finnish company made a big marketing campaign to internet calls here. The gateway and web server was in Finland and they used a finnish prices (2-3 times lower than ET, but still very expensive compare to US prices). After our goverment declared it unlegal, the only result was, that this company local support office was closed down and this company got a lot of free marketing by press. Estonian Telecom sent also out a letter to ISP's, that they must control the leased lines from Estonian Telecom will be used only for data purposes??? As SAT phones will not be in partnership with Estonian Telecom, I don't see any ways to stop them here. Veiko
