Neocon,

If someone other than yourself, would have a problem with this public tending to an infant, they could simply look away. But they are probably the very people that ogle at the mother and infant.

When I had my first child. I was out shopping with my mother. My two month old whom, I was carrying in my arms got fussy as it was time to nurse. In the department store, I breast fed my child. My mom who was not the most encouraging person I have met regarding nursing, had no idea that the baby was nursing. And I would say my mom would have been a critical observer of this act. She ask me something in the store, which prompted me to say.....maybe about trying something on, and I told her, "well, I will have to wait until Emily is done nursing." She was totally surprised how discreet one can be while nursing an infant.

I guess the bottom line is ......a mother can be as flamboyant or as discreet as they choose while nursing. And those around them can look if they want.....or they could choose different scenery to observe.
