Netmarks Inc. Joins McDATA Elite Solutions Partners; Japanese Systems Integrator to Market McDATA Fibre Channel SAN Solutions

BROOMFIELD, Colo., Aug. 31 /PRNewswire/ -- McDATA Corporation, the Enterprise Fibre Channel Company, announced that Tokyo-based Netmarks Inc. has joined McDATA's ranks of Elite Solutions Partners. Netmarks will sell and provide system integration services in Japan for McDATA Fibre Channel networking products, including McDATA's robust and fully redundant Fibre Channel Directors used in enterprise SAN (Storage Area Network) applications.

"Netmarks, with its well known presence in Japan, is a strategic sales and technical support partner for McDATA," said Mike Gustafson, McDATA vice president of sales. "They will be marketing McDATA's flagship product, the 32-port, high-availability McDATA ED-5000 Fibre Channel Director, as well as our 16-port departmental ES-2500 Fibre Channel Switch and Enterprise Fabric Connectivity Management products." These products have been proven to inter-operate with all major RAID storage, backup tape systems and server products.

"In Japan, McDATA is highly regarded as the as the ESCON OEM to the IBM data center and for its global presence throughout the Fortune 2000," stated Taichiro Nagao, Netmarks CEO. "The McDATA products extend Netmarks' current Fibre Channel product offering to the enterprise." Under its program to construct a SAN within a multi-vendor environment, Netmarks has been reselling Fibre Channel products from the US for major Japanese computer and storage manufacturers. With McDATA products, Netmarks expands its current small-to-medium scale SAN business to the enterprise level, addressing the requirements of its strongest marketplace -- large manufacturing enterprises.

Using the advantages of a McDATA Director in a multi-vendor environment, Netmarks can now promote its enterprise SAN solutions by emphasizing network robustness, central and remote management capabilities, storage fail-over, optimization of total storage capacity, higher data rates and efficient backup.
