The question was whether you believe it [India Shines]. Nope. Of course not! I don't. Both are pretty much the same. In fact, some of the UN stats I quoted put Pakistan higher than India on some counts. I would say that there is very little to choose between the two.Socially pakistan compares only to afghanistans taliban, and economically, pakistan is close to defaulting. Socially, India's own Taliban [RSS, VHP et al] is gaining the upper hand and economically, India is sitting on its foreign exchange reserves, praying that crude oil prices don't go up! Not exactly a position of strength. If what yu say is the case then kargil should have escalated. .... [later, you say] : ...and, india was at a stage of widening the conflict Well, if what you say is the case, then India should have conducted "hot pursuit" into Pakistani Kashmir and "flushed out the enemy" (expressions taken from your own hawkish Home Minister's speeches). If that was the case they would have widened the conflict. But see where they stand now. Why should they? They can always "pick the time and place for the next conflict" (another quote taken from yet another of your own hawkish Ministers). The more the number of conflicts, the more alarmed the world community gets. And they can do it all with the firm assurance that India won't cross the borders or the LOC. Or else... :-)Well, anyway, I gotta stop before this becomes soc.cult.paki (that's an oxymoron ... never mind ... you wouldn't inderstand) Well, before calling anybody devoid of culture, look at your own land -- a thousand people get butchered, and the man who is implicated in the pogrom is allowed to walk away unscathed, with the "explanation" that punishing him would be tantamount to punishing everybody else who happened to be born into the religion he was born into! Now, that's "culture", eh?!
