Security Dynamics and VeriSign Join Forces to Advance PKI and E-Commerce Security
Security Dynamics to Resell VeriSign OnSite Managed Trust Services
August 31, 1999 07:30 AM BEDFORD, Mass. and MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., Aug. 31 /PRNewswire/ -- Security Dynamics Technologies, Inc. SDTI and VeriSign VRSN today announced a joint sales and marketing agreement intended to make it easier for enterprises to establish a comprehensive, open security foundation for their e-commerce and e-business applications. Through the agreement, which significantly expands the existing strategic relationship between the two companies, Security Dynamics will resell VeriSign's OnSite(SM) managed trust service with its Keon(TM) family of products. The global alliance between these two security leaders offers Security Dynamics' Keon best-of-breed security application services, together with VeriSign's managed services for rapidly deploying secure e-commerce applications, from a single source. This relationship gives enterprises greater flexibility in implementing and securing their PKI-based applications quickly and easily.
"This exciting new phase in our relationship positions Security Dynamics and VeriSign to jointly address the broadest range of enterprise customers' security requirements," said Art Coviello, president of Security Dynamics. "VeriSign OnSite now offers our Keon customers even more choice and control in implementing their enterprise public key infrastructure."
"With this agreement, OnSite customers now can leverage the application integration, encryption and single sign-on features offered by Keon," said Stratton Sclavos, CEO and president of VeriSign. "In addition, the integration between our OnSite managed trust services and the Keon suite of security applications makes it even easier for enterprises to plug into a PKI backbone and rapidly secure their e-commerce applications."
PKI is emerging as the common foundation for secure distributed applications, and for many organizations, will soon constitute the core of their Internet security infrastructure. A new study by Giga Information Group predicts that corporations around the world will save up to $1.25 trillion by 2002 doing business over the Internet.
Security Dynamics and VeriSign intend to work cooperatively to coordinate the efforts of their sales forces, distributors and international affiliates. The two companies also plan to invest heavily in education and training to further enhance their combined efforts and ensure that customers receive the best solution for their particular needs.
VeriSign OnSite is the first managed trust service delivering best-of-breed enterprise PKI functionality and contractually guaranteed processing services to support the widest range of intranet, extranet, VPN and e-commerce applications.
Security Dynamics' Keon family of interoperable PKI products delivers a range of flexible solutions for managing digital certificates to ensure authenticated, private and legally binding communications and transactions.
