One of the important things I have learned re: Checkfree has to do with the MIDDLEMAN in business. Attempts to eliminate the middleman are as old as business itself. I think this has special implications for CKFR. If the banks or portals own CKFR there will be a multitude of conflicts between Biller clients, payer clients, bank clients and portal clients. The consortium won't eliminate this. It will just provide a sheer layer over the conflicts. An outside consolidator is free of such conflicts. This is why I don't think the banks or a portal will buy Checkfree. What bothers me about this conclusion is that the banks must have considered it and still decided to proceed. Assuming the banks are determined to form a consolidator and wanted to purchase CKFR, would they be precluded by the Intuit and portal deals?

Does anyone have any thoughts on this?

Hi Rob C.,

I agree. The dips on low volume days like today simply mean there ain't any real buyers. Traders are watching the 'Net sector once again as she teeters on some pretty important support. Some of the monster 'Nets reversed today off of support (EBAY, AMZN), but we need confirmation. Gold and energy are looking strong again, so that's a caution for equities. Hmmm, which way will she go...

If it's not one thing, it's another, eh? I really like CKFR (even had some friends at work nibble on a few shares) for the long haul. Of course, the Yahoo! news, IMO, will give CKFR a nice pop.

There are so many seemingly undervalued stocks right now (CKFR, CNCX, ATHM, etc. etc....i trade 'em all). But none of that matters (short term) if the whole sector is weak.

Only one I'm holding right now is ATHM, and that is looking real close to a short candidate...darn.

Best of luck SCOTT

PS. I'm still hearing "Pay Trust" commercials lately all over our local radio stations about how EASY it is to pay bills on-line. Can someone refresh my memory as to who Pay Trust is? Thanks!

> Then again, CKFR may use that news piece when Yahoo rolls out.

Is there a consensus for what that date is?
