DVD player sales only up 98.6% in lastest week............. dvdinsider.com Vital Statistics - 8/31/99 According to statistics from CEMA, DVD player sales continue to rise. For the week ending Aug. 20, 1997, DVD player sales reached 31,512, a 98.6 percent increase from 1998. In retrospect, projection television sales were drastically lacking having sold only 19,109, a (40.5) percent decrease from 1998. Month-to-date DVD player sales have amounted to 103,661, a 287.8 percent increase and projection televisions sold only 51,742 for the month, a (13.9) percent decrease. Year-to-date DVD player sales have been phenomenal surpassing the one million mark with 1,715,292, a 342.3 percent increase from the previous year while projection television sales have reached only 611,510, an increase of 10.6 percent from 1998.
