This is a thorny point with me ... on the one hand safety is a duty. On the other hand a useable firearm will ALWAYS be accessible to kids someway somehow. Not sure how to solve that one, so caution is prevailing for now. Family caution, not imagined-intruder cauiton. (Even paranoids have priorities.) When Helen and the Itlet are old enough (and they will be my guides in this matter) I will teach them what I know about guns, that they are DANGEROUS, and that if I ever leave one out they should tell me and not touch.
With a toddler in the house you can imagine that I have secured my guns. I depend on a crowbar for close-in defensive duty. No crows have gotten close enough yet ... lol
