>>>>And is there some kind of pattern that has an upward slanting channel with a break on the downside?<<<<

There a lots of stocks that topped in July with 3 narrowing tops with higher highs and higher lows, the nasdaq topped in february with a rising wedge three tops and a flop.

The DJU topped with that pattern

the dow has a parallel channel three which could be a variation of the narrowing channel three.

This is the larry, moe and curly. or maria on maddening monday, maria on turnaround tuesday., maria on falling Friday -g-, or the three little indians as described by intelligent speculator.

I was refering to the OEX and SPX. If we do get a bounce here in the next day or two, we will be at a level where we could form a nice H&S. These are low in reliability but this one is pretty symetrical and volume is conforming so far. I don't watch the DOW much anymore since I switched data providers and all I can get is theoretical data instead of actual. I am a candle chartist and theoretical data makes the candles worthless as it seems everyday is a long legged doji due to thier formulas vs instantanious prints of actual value.

On your other message, I concur, I don't care if I miss the next 100 buy attempts, I am never putting in a market order again. I would almost bet $100 that Waterhouse was on the other side of the trade. Probably a good scam they have going, don't fill limit orders then gouge the customer when they finally get tired of missed entries.

Good Luck,

Lee
