Lots of people have bad tempers. If everyone in New York City carried a gun, there might be a lot fewer muggings. The carnage over parking spaces would be unbelievable though, not to mention the domestic disputes, etc. "Road Rage" is a real thing; unarmed people will curse each other, maybe throw a punch if given a chance. Armed ones, all too often, will shoot. I'm not sure if the security gained by being able to shoot back is worth the knowledge that the frothing dude leaning on his horn is probably packing a piece.
