I might have downloaded that Star Office software this week had I not bought a second computer with Office pre-loaded.
However, I am one person who does not use (or know how to) Office2k. I don't have a need for it at work or home. I need to type the occasional letter ---and this free download would probably suffice---especially if Sunw improves it.
As i basically plan to daytrade, i don't ever anticipate a future use for it. If i thought it would help me in for example a career search in the future, i would pay the money to learn Office2k and not this new product.
Microsoft's marketing and strategy teams are probably the best in the business. They will start in grade school and move their way upto colleges etc.

It is going to be extremely tough for Sunw just as it is for Corel (but you never know).

Well, this Start office thing will be just like Lotus 123.

1) I do not like to retrain myself for a new word processor, and I do not think Corp will like either, it is time consuming, and less productive, and it can be very expensive to retrain

2) If I switch to a different word processor, then how about my old files which is in word format , what can I do when I need data in Excel, or word ?

3)The software is really a very small portion of corp investment , and it does not really matter to save that small portion, as long as you can get high productivity.
